Del Gunnells was raised surrounded by early Texas and Louisiana primitive antiques and folk art. From a young age, he was in the fields of Fayette County, helping his mother, Ann Gunnells, set up for the antique shows. Ann was one of the original dealers of what has since become the renowned Round Top Antique Festival. Del worked in construction thought his college career. After earning a degree in Business Marketing and building a strong foundation in the trade, he developed both practical expertise and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. His wife, Marra Gunnells, inherited her love of architecture and antiques from her father, Bryan Hendrix, who was an architect and interior designer in Beaumont Texas. After earning her degree in Interior Design, she enjoyed a successful career in corporate and commercial interiors before stepping away to raise their two sons.

In 1998, their shared passion for design inspired the launch of Gunnells Concrete, a creative concrete design studio serving the greater Houston area. For more than 25 years, Gunnells Concrete has handcrafted designs that transcend aesthetics, offering a seamless blend of form and function. Projects include concrete countertops, integral sinks, tiles, fire surrounds, and overlaid wall finishes, they also provide staining, saw-cut patterns, and sealing for both indoor and outdoor concrete slabs. Every project reflects a fusion of client vision, artistry, and enduring quality.

In recent years, Del and Marra have become more deeply engaged in bringing Gunnells Antiques to the Houston design market. By combining their expertise in custom concrete design with a curated collection of primitive antiques and architectural salvage, they present a distinctive vision—where modern design and timeless craftsmanship meet.
